Where is Pilgrim Karita in Skyrim? ›

The Dragonborn can find Karita sitting in front of one of the etched tablets on the steps of the Throat of the World. She is most commonly encountered at the shrine just before the Frost Troll encounter, after the Dragonborn has been summoned by the Greybeards.

Radiant Raiment occasionally sells an Amulet of Talos. The pilgrim Karita near the end of the 7,000 steps to High Hrothgar is carrying one. Can often be pickpocketed from Borri, although the base chance is below 25%.

Madena, Court Wizard of Dawnstar, is a woman who has seen some things. A former Imperial battle mage, she fought the Aldmeri Dominion in the Great War.

If your Infamy (see notes) is higher than 15, or if it increases while any of the Crusader's items are equipped, this quest will be started with the following message: "Your crimes have made you unfit to wield the Crusader's Relics. Make the pilgrimage to repent your sins and once again seek the favor of the gods."

Follow the Pilgrim's Path

Take the dark path, avoiding the scorching light that massively decreases health and eventually kills. To the left and right of the Statue of Nocturnal there are two lit stone heads, pull the two chains next to them to open the gate behind the statue.

Contrary to the name, there are not actually 7000 steps, although I've always been curious just how many steps the player character's avatar would have to make to reach the top, but never enough to find out for myself. It's just too tedious.

Estimates For The 7,000 Steps In Skyrim

In term of actual steps (as in "steps on a staircase"), there are only 732 steps in the famous 7,000 Steps, according to user3389. This is a far cry from what the the staircase's name suggests, especially because some of these steps actually head downwards instead of upwards.

To reach High Hrothgar, the best place to start is a town called Ivarstead. Players should have an objective marker pointing to this settlement when the quest "The Way of the Voice" is active. One way to reach Ivarstead is to take the cart to Riften and go west along the river.

Slay The Giant

Players can now speak to Jarl Skald and ask to become Thane. He will be thankful for the Dragonborn finally stopping the nightmares. The player needs to be at least Level 22 to receive the Jarl's task to slay a giant.

To make sure, I went back to Ahkari and bought the dragon bones and they were no longer in the chest. I placed the bones back and Ahkari had some to sell me again. So this proves, to me at least, that Ahkari is the owner of the Dawnstar chest. If this was already known, my bad.
